Sotto una stella di galaverna by Davide Barberi

10.04-11.05.2025

opening 10.04. 19:00H

In Greek and Nordic mythology, nymphs are hybrid beings—half-human, half-divine—dwelling in the interstices of the natural world. They protect rivers, trees, and stars, slipping between matter and myth, between presence and disappearance. Sotto una stella di galaverna conjures this liminal presence: a landscape covered by hoarfrost, where forms shimmer just before vanishing, where bodies are felt more than seen. The galaverna, rare and fleeting, becomes a metaphor for perception—what is only revealed when conditions align, when one comes closer, looks longer.

In dialogue with the ongoing exhibition cycle GODXESS, this project proposes a minor mythology—one that resists monumental narratives and instead listens to the voice carried by the wind, the rustle of a leaf, the translucency of matter. Like the goddesses and monstrous hybrids explored throughout GODXESS, the nymph here is not a subject of worship but a figure of radical immanence: a being co-constituted with the forest, the stream, the ice. She invites us to inhabit a world in which the boundary between the human and the non-human, the spiritual and the everyday, is porous and shifting.
